While I’m flattered that you’ve come to me for help, there are a couple problems I’m going to point out with this:
1. I don’t have the kind of clout to say, “Hey everybody, stop doing porn and smut,” not that any one person on the internet really has that sort of power. If anything, people wouldn’t take me seriously because of the kinds of posts I make. So all in all, not the best choice in ambassadors here. Is it because I don’t draw porn myself? Just because I don’t draw it myself doesn’t mean that I have a problem with people who do.
2. What other people want to do on their blogs is their business, so if they want to write gratuitous porn, then they’re perfectly within their rights to do so. I have no problem with this, and although you said that you have no problem with people’s personal desires, you are asking me to help stop them putting their personal desires out there? That’s not something I’m willing to do, honestly, and I think it’s presumptuous to want to stop these people from drawing and writing what they feel like. Who am I to say that someone can’t draw lesbian sex with GLaDOS or Wheatleycest or whatever else people are drawing? I mean, what if the only things I draw now are the Portal crew riding unicorns?
“Hey Reboot, stop drawing Wheatley on unicorns, I came here to see him stab things and I don’t want to see this fandom become a haven for unicorns.”
That definitely wouldn’t fly with me (and if it was me, I’d take it as a cue to draw more unicorns). I understand that it can be frustrating to see your favorite artists draw things you don’t like, but they’re not your personal art people that should draw only things that you like. Besides, if you’re not liking what you’re seeing, why not draw and write some stuff yourself? It’s fun!
Anyway, every fandom I’ve seen turns into shipping and porn. It’s just the natural order of things. Even Spongebob. Go take a look at some of the fanfics in the Spongebob archive on ff.net. Haha.
There’s no way to stop any of this.
And even if there was, I wouldn’t try to.
